Sulfites in Wine

Tabler Life Wine labels carry no sulfite warnings, although these warnings are typically required by law and are on the labels of virtually all wine available for purchase.

Why are they absent on Tabler Life Wine?

A sulfite warning is required by law on the label of wines that contain more than 10 parts per million (ppm) of sulfites (also known as sulfur dioxide or SO2). This is to protect very sensitive people. Below 10 ppm is so negligible that it is considered effectively nonexistent for the presence of sulfites - and therefore no sulfite warning is necessary or required.

This level of sulfite free wine is nearly impossible to find or purchase in the current industrial wine age. The reason for this is because not only are sulfites added by winemakers as an industrial preservative, but even when they are not added, the industrial process of commercial yeast inoculation actually produces sulfites. Therefore, even wines with labels that say "no added sulfites" can still contain significant levels of sulfites due to commercial yeast inoculation.

These "no added sulfites" wines will also include a required statement that says "may contain naturally occuring sulfites". These so-called "naturally occurring sulfites" are actually produced by the inoculation of unnatural industrial yeast - which was never meant to be used in winemaking, and prior to the 1950's was never used throughout antiquity.

At Tabler Life Wine, we do things differently. We use the ancient method of 100% natural spontaneous fermentation - with no added yeast, no added sulfites, and zero additives of any kind. This spontaneous natural process is 100% different and produces no sulfites. The juice starts bubbling spontaneously - all by itself - in fruit juice that has not been tainted by chemicals. In fact, this natural process can actually metabolize and neutralize any trace sulfites during aging if, for instance, a trace amount had somehow reached the grapes during the farming process. With no sulfites added and no sulfites produced during this natural process, the official federal test results below clearly show - no sulfite warning is necessary.

The result? The cleanest, most vibrant, living wine that is as close to nature as it gets.
